Laurie’s artistic journey began when she was gifted a set of Japanese watercolors by her grandmother at the age of six years old. “I don’t know what I had against people, but I just drew and painted animals,” Laurie recalls.
Her love of horses specifically started in 1980 with a dare to ride a livery horse with friends in Central Park. “The rest is history,” she said. Laurie has ridden and trained horses for years, and loves watching both their physical and mental development. She muses that the horse’s body becomes a work of art unto itself as it develops.
