Patriotic Diamond Painting Projects: Blooms and Bling

Patriotic Diamond Painting Projects: Blooms and Bling

Feeling patriotic and want to show it? It’s easy to add some sparkling red, white, and blue accents to favorite things with diamond painting. Bonus: when you DIY your patriotic decorations yourself, it means you have total control over just how patriotic you want to be. A little sparkle can go a long way, and allows your creations to be subtle, yet stunning. It also extends their life, making them perfect for display all season.

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to create two festive projects: a striped vase perfect for displaying the season’s blooms, and a charming wooden block featuring a clever patriotic sunflower. Both projects use Freestyle diamond painting, meaning you’re creating from scratch versus using a diamond painting kit.

FEELING FESTIVE: WHY DIAMOND PAINTING IS PERFECT FOR PATRIOTIC HOLIDAYS

The abundance of ready-made patriotic decorations can feel overwhelming! Diamond painting is a perfect solution for patriotic holiday crafting because our simple projects use a lot of supplies you already have in your stash. To craft both projects here you’ll need the basic diamond painting tools leftover from kits, and of course, sparkling Dotz drills.

PATRIOTIC DIAMOND PAINTING: FLYING THE COLORS VASE

The Dotz are the star of this project, so it’s a great way to use all of those extra sparkling diamond drills you likely have on-hand. For the vase itself, we repurposed a glass jar. Put your beginner painting skills to work and use tape to mask off and create the “stripes.” Next, you’ll apply the Dotz drills using the Freestyle diamond painting technique. To finish this beauty, glue ribbon around the neck of the vase, and embellish with a wooden craft star adorned with diamond gems.

Pro tip: extra wooden stars can work as napkin ring holders or additional table decorations – tie it all together as you wish, that’s what Freestyle is all about!

PATRIOTIC DIAMOND PAINTING: GLITTER ‘N GLORY WOODEN BLOCK

The base of this project was a wooden block, already printed with the sunflower design. Don’t worry if you can’t find something exactly the same – the process itself is so adaptable, you can use it on many designs and surfaces. The idea is to employ the Freestyle diamond painting technique to transform this accessory with Dotz. Check out our Freestyle inspiration and you’ll see what we mean when we say the sky is the limit! Your surface, your design, totally your creation.

These easy Freestyle diamond painting projects are perfect for displaying on tables, mantels, or shelves, all season long. They’re budget-friendly because in many cases they use supplies directly from your craft room. They’re also versatile and work for celebrating Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, or really any day that you want to showcase some good old Americana style.
